I have heard so much negativity about The Book of Boba Fett that I won’t try to lie and claim I am approaching it from an unbiased point of view. I know that important plots points from The Mandalorian happen in Book of Boba which is a trashy and desperate-looking production move. If the creators don’t think the show can can stand on it’s own, they should have made a better product. Bald Move, my favorite television podcast, regularly bring up Book of Boba and the Obi-Wan show as examples of how Star Wars has lost it’s way.
All that being said, I have enjoyed episodes 1 and 2 more than I anticipated. Episode 1 was simply okay, but I thought episode 2 was legitimately good Star Wars television. I am a fan of any Star Wars media that dives into Tusken culture. My favorite part of Knights of the Old Republic is the Tatooine questlines that allow the player to ally with and learn more about the Tuskens in their settlement. Every since the first Tusken attacked Luke way back in A New Hope, I have been fascinated by these masked nomads.
I still expect to be disappointed moving forward. Perhaps the show will spend a lot of time following Boba Fett and his Tusken allies. If that happens, I might enjoy the show more than most. But I doubt that will happen. Instead, it is a weird feeling of dread. A lot of media is “It gets better after the first few episodes.” The Book of Boba Fett might be “It gets worse after the first few episodes.”
