Now that season one is a wrap, I am putting out into the ether five things I want to see and a theory that might make and interesting plot. Some of these will spoil season one reveals.
- I want more Adar. He has a proper motivation that makes me want to learn more about him and his story. What I would like to see is some Adar as some sort of third force opposed to both Sauron and the free peoples simply because everyone is opposed to Adar. Adar wants a homeland for his “children” but nobody will leave them alone.
- Speaking of Adar, my craziest theory is that Adar is Celeborn, Galadriel’s husband. I’m calling my shot here. The story would be that Celeborn was captured by Morgoth and tortured until his mind broke. Morgoth then rebuilt him as Adar. Somehow Adar and Sauron become opposed and Adar becomes the orc leader we see in The Rings Power. Galadriel learns Adar’s true identity and abandons her chase of Sauron to chase down Adar and attempt to heal him, maybe even using one of the three rings to help. The two settle Lothlorien as a place for Celeborn to recover and deprogram.
- I hope The Stranger and Nori taking off from the Harfoots doesn’t spell the end of the Harfoots on screen. Instead of having the Harfoots get into trouble, we can see them simply living their nomadic life making Middle-earth seem that much larger. Bonus points if they visit locations already shown in Peter Jackson’s films so we can see the difference a massive war and a few thousands years makes.
- More Durin and Disa and show their kids! I want to see little dwarvish kids running amok causing trouble. There’s a lot open to the writers after that drunken scene of Disa and Durin discussing their future plans. Most people say any House of Cards style political intrigue will happen in Numenor. I think it should happen in Khazad-dûm because of the extra family drama it would generate. I also want more Khazad-dûm in general. Moria was always my favorite part of the books and I am loving the depiction here.
- The Númenóreans need to be more badass in future seasons. They got punked by Adar and fled with their tails between their legs. Other than a very nice looking city and cool ship designs, nothing about the Númenóreans makes me feel like they’re anything more than bickering jabronis.
