Batrankings

I mentioned Batrankings back in my post about some of Frank Miller’s work. I want to give them the credit they deserve. The hosts Ben Creighton and Kenny Windorski are obviously good friends and obviously love the material. But then, who doesn’t love Batman: The Animated Series? It is one of the best American cartoons.

Ben and Kenny’s humor is a bit nerdy and Kenny drops a lot of movie references which I appreciate. Mook rating is a thing that needs to happen in more media commentary. Luckily the hosts compare most of the hired goons to the ur-goon Anthony. Joking aside, that is the deep cut commentary I come for when listening to a podcast about one of my all time favorite shows. Anyone can do a basic recap. Highlighting connections between episodes and the overall care from Ben and Kenny is what keeps me coming back.

I found the podcast a year or so ago and have been keeping pace by watching an episode of Batman: TAS then listening to the appropriate episode of Batrankings. I absolutely recommend the experience if you are a fan of Batman: TAS. So get on it, there is no reason to wait. They are almost to the end of the series as of the writing of this and will move on to Batman Beyond or Superman: The Animated Series. I don’t have nearly as much familiarity with either of those shows, but I will keep on with Batrankings and watch whichever show they choose.
